Q: What happens when you click the “Start Now” button?

A: After you click this button, you will be directed to the download file. You will receive a download prompt or the download may begin right away. From that point, you just have to click “Run” or “Open” and let it install. This is a very small application and only takes a few seconds.


Q: What happens after the software installs?

A: You will be prompted to give permission for access and control. Click “OK” to consent within the time frame shown. You may also receive another request if User Account Control is on. Click “OK” to allow this connection/install.

After clicking “OK” on the User Account Control box, your screen may go dark and another box asking if you want to allow this app to make changes to your device will appear. Use the “Yes” option. 
In some cases, your firewall may also block access. Be sure to allow access if this happens.

Note: LogMeIn (LMI) Rescue is a 3rd party remote assistance product that is currently used to provide remote support to ScotiaComp Technologies customers. ScotiaComp Technologies uses the Enterprise version of LogMeIn Rescue as the primary Remote Desktop Assistance tool to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues.

With LogMeIn Rescue, ScotiaComp Technologies engineers and technicians can view or share control of the remote computer, chat, and highlight sections of the customer’s screen without the need to pre-install software.

LogMeIn Rescue differs from other remote access products from LogMeIn and other companies in that it is a reactive, permission-based support tool. No permanent software is installed on customer’s PC/device in order to deliver support that requires remote access, and ScotiaComp Technologies engineers and technicians can only remotely access a customer’s PC with that customer’s explicit permission – permission that must be granted each and every time a customer requests support. Support from ScotiaComp Technologies will be initiated from this site only.
